Traveling to China Part 1

After too much Skype disruption, 6 hours difference, and several unsuccessful attempts to upload photos on Facebook I decided to do something.  I’ll open a personal blog for you guys at home where you can catch up on us and update me on you all. I know only two weeks has past, but what’s a woman without her tribe :) we are in Shenzhen two weeks!

Two weeks turned out to be the fastest time we fixed a house and it’s easy and cheap here! A pair of fine bed linen, two comforters (with weaving silk, silk!), Three cushions cost us 1250 Yuan.

Bedclothes are excellent, affordable house wares are everywhere. The hall shopping experience here is wild, the fruit and vegetables shine, there are 70 types of rice, I found eggs with hair (I do not want to know their source), sea turtles live  in aquarium occasionally come out to eat plastic flowers and dive back disappointed when they did not succeed, it  is truly a sad view.

This city walks quickly to the West, alongside a huge building (Shenzhen is the third largest economic power in China) you can still see remnants of a village. Small street vendors in several corners of the skyscrapers along with long-dressed businessmen next to a Chinese grandmother who falls asleep on a tangerines stall. Transition to modernity id happening so fast until it is literally visible and i should mention here that the city was a fishing colony until a little less than three years ago. its so new here, and although I do not understand a word (okay, a few words) Chinese people seem  warm and welcoming. They are nice shocked by me a big woman that do not look like Western women here, kindly they compliment the children” is Beautiful” in broken English and even though the children enjoy the attention I miss the feeling of blending into the crowd.
